The Istana Budaya is situated at the junction of Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Kuantan. The building is home to the The
National Symphony Orchestra and The National Dance Company. The theatre has been billed as a ‘lyrical theatre of the 21st Century’. Its design incorporates Malay culture with superb local interior finishing.
Istana Budaya is proud to be the first theatre in Asia to have the most advanced mechanism for stage performances. This
places it among the top theatres in the world in terms of technology and design.
The logo is a replica of the ‘sirih’ or betel leaves commonly used during traditional Malay weddings, festivities
and welcoming ceremonies for dignitaries. This signifies a mark of excellence in Malaysian performing arts and manifests the role of Istana Budaya in welcoming visitors to its theatre performances of the highest artistic
standards in the country.
