Layang Mas

This is one of the dances in the Terinai repertoire. A very beautiful court dance that is said to have derived its movements from that of the swallow (layang-layang). A slightly more seductive and flirtatious dance, that has clear shoulder and hip movements. The dance also uses a long scarf that is tied to a belt at the waist. This scarf is held very lightly by the thumb and forefinger and raised to the sides to the dancer giving the apprearance of wings. This dance is always performed by women only.
